25th POLISH NATIONAL PURE BRED ARABIAN SHOW
Pepita and Paweł Kozikowski
This had to happen. Kwestura, the mare which held the record of the most expensive horse sold, had to pass on its crown as this year’s Pride of Poland Auction saw a new price record. The star of the evening was Janów’s Pepita (Ekstern – Pepesza/Eukaliptus), which beat Kwestura’s record by two hundred and fifty thousand Euro! After the auction the mare’s new owner, apparently from Switzerland, made his lap of honour with unhidden joy, Pepita in hand.
Pepita’s record was not all. The auction was only just beginning and becoming increasingly interesting. It must be admitted however, that the stake of horses was very strong indeed, as reflected in the final result of Sunday’s auction, which reached nearly four million Euro. Apart from Pepita’s the high prices offered for other horses also contributed to this exorbitant amount.
Altamira
Pistora from Michałów (Gazal Al Shaqab – Palmira/Monogramm) was bought by Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Thani of Al Zobair Stud for the price of 625 thousand Euro. Another diamond from Michałów, the mare Wieża Róż (Ekstern – Wieża Babel/Laheeb), was sold to Al. Thumama Stud for 270 thousand Euro. Private bred mares were not left behind this time. Wasa (WH Justice – Waresa/ Empres), owned by Falborek Arabians, brought a price of 252 thousand Euro, thus setting a new price record for private mares. Wasa will go to Qatar. Mrs Shirley Watts, a permanent guest and a great lover of Polish Arabians, bought two more Janów mares for her stables, Adyga (Kahil Al Shaqab – Amiga/ Piaff) auctioned for 130 thousand Euro and Altamira (Ekstern – Altona / Eukaliptus) for 250 thousand Euro.

Georgia – the pearl of Michałów. Time to part.
The decision of the Michałów Stud to sell Georgia raised a great deal of emotion since the mare has a considerable circle of fans. Georgia certainly belongs to the horses who catch the eye and heart of horse lovers and stay in memory forever. For horses like Georgia the show ring is a theatrical stage on which they give their own, individual performance …
Georgia
Georgia spent 21 years in Michałów, representing Poland on the international scene with dignity and success. As a reminder, she was the Vice Champion of Poland of Senior Mares in Janów Podlaski 2014, silver medalist of the Senior Mares Championship of the Al Khalediah European Arabian Horse Festival in Nowe Wrońska 2014, among the "Top Five" of the World Senior Mares Championship Salon du Cheval, Paris 2009. The Michałów mare is an embodiment of everything that makes Polish Arabians famous, plus an extraordinary soul which lights up her hypnotizing eyes and leaves no one indifferent.
The happy buyer of Georgia is the Athbah Stud in Saudi Arabia, whose representative closed the auction with the price of 105 thousand Euro. We hope the mare will quickly adapt to her new home, while we in Poland will continue to see her in her outstanding offspring.
The Summer Auction – another record broken!
The Monday action was another memorable occasion. The heroine of the day was Melody (Psytadel - Mina/ Monogramm), from the private stock of Małgorzata and Józef Pietrzak, who broke the Summer Auction record by achieving the price of 60 thousand Euro. The mare will go to Iran. But more suprises were in store. Michałów’s Mata Hari (Werbum – Martynika/ Monogramm) was offered 47 thousand Euro, and Janów’s Persepa (Enzo – Polenta/ Ecaho) brought 46 thousand Euro. Another Michałów bred mare, Elara (Gazal Al Shaqab – Elganda/ Monogramm) was sold by 39 thousand Euro, while Wersja (Poganin – Wenta/ Empres) bred by SK Kurozwęki, J.M. Popiel for 35 thousand Euro. The stallions Espimar (Marajj – Espinezja/ Psytadel) bred/owned by Falborek Arabians and Gaspar (Emigrant – Gaskonia/ Probat) bred/owned by SK Michałów stay in their home stables.

Time for a coronation - Pustynia Kahila still in the lead
The youngest participants of the show started their competition in three classes. The winner in Class A yearling mares was Celita (Lawrence El Gazal – Cella/ Ekstern) bred by SO Białka and owned by Małopolska Hodowla Roślin Ltd., obtaining 92.17 points. In Class B the winner was Michałów’s Foggita (El Omari – Foggia/ Gazal Al Shaqab), while in Class C the first place went to do Prunella (Abyad AA – Pradera/ Hlayyil Ramadan), Białecka Bambina (Kahil Al Shaqab – Bellisa/ Poganin) being the runner up.
Two year old mares competed in two classes. Victory in Class A went to Janów’s Cedora (Kahil Al Shaqab – Cenoza/ Ekstern) (91.67 pts), the runner up was Galerida (Shanghai E.A – Galilea/ Laheeb) bred/owned by SK Michałów which scored 91.17 pts. In Class B the winner was Michałów’s Pustynia Kahila (Kahil Al Shaqab - Pustynna Malwa/ Ekstern) with a score of 92.33 pts. (including two „20s” for type), immediately followed by Janów’s Prometida (Kahil Al Shaqab – Panonia/ Eukaliptus) which scored 91.83.
The result of the Junior Mares Championship was therefore no surprise. The gold medal went to the delightful Pustynia Kahila, silver to Prunella and bronze to Foggita.
4-6 year old mares also competed in two classes. The first and second place in Class A was awarded to Janów bred Piniata (Eden C – Pinga/Gazal Al Shaqab) (92.67 pts) oraz and Euzona (Om El Bellissimo-Euzetia/Etogram) (92.33 pts) respectively. Class B saw the triumph of Michałów’s Emadilla (Om El Shahmaan – Espadrilla/Monogramm) (93.17 pts), the second place going to Palatina (QR Marc – Palmeta/Ecaho) bred by SK Janów Podlaski and owned by PPH Parys Sp. z o.o. (91.83 pts.).
Piniata
The standards in Class A of 7 year old and older mares were set by Michałów’s Parmana (Al Maraam – Palmira/Monogramm) with (92.50 pts) in the first place and Janów’s Pilarosa (Al Adeed Al Shaqab – Pilar/Fawor) (92.50 pts) in the second. Natomiast klasa B należała zdecydowanie do michałowskiej Ellliseiny (Galba – Ellissara/Laheeb)
The senior mares classes, which always arouse the greatest emotions, were this time a great success for Michałów’s mares: Palanga (Ekstern – Panika/Eukaliptus) in Class A and Embra (Monogramm – Emilda/Pamir) in Class B.
In the Senior Mares Championship the two first places were awarded to mares from Janów and Michałów. The title of Senior Mares Champion was awarded to Janów’s Piniata, the silver medal to Michałów’s Palanga, and, surprisingly, the bronze to Elliseina, owned by Polska AKF Sp. z o.o.
Stallion’s Championship - Wiron catches up with the leaders
In the colts class the gold medal was given to Janów bred Paris (Kahil Al Shaqab – Palmeta/Ecaho), followed by Michałów’s Woj (Empire – Waranga/QR Marc), the second runner up being, unexpectedly, the privately bred Wiron (Kabsztad – Wirka/Emigrant) bred by Brygida and Jerzy Chrapkowski and owned by Joanna Kustra Lech. In the three year old colts’ class Wiron had no rivals but nonetheless won a medal in the Championship.
Cefir
4-6 year old stallions competed in one class. The highest score in this class (92 pts.) was awarded to Cefir (Eryks – Celina/Metropolis NA) bred by SO Białka and owned by Małopolska Hodowla Roślin Ltd., who also won the main title in the Senior Stallion’s Championship. The runner up in this class was Janów’s Barok (Om El Bellissimo – Baida/Balon), which also came second, next to Cefir, in the Championship and won the silver medal. The bronze medal was given to the grey Girlan – Bey (Pesal - Gracja-Bis/Monogramm) bred by SK Niewierz and owned by the Kristoffersen Family.
This year’s National Arabian Horse Show is certain to be remembered by lovers of Arabians for a long time, mainly due to the record breaking Pride of Poland action, with Pepita in the leading role. Records always add spice to the show and electrify the atmosphere. However, after the end of the auction there is always a note of anxiety, whether the empty stalls left by the sold horses will be filled by equally valuable Arabian treasures…
