SMALL SURPRISES AND GREAT REASONS FOR JOY – ARABIAN JUNIOR SPRING SHOW IN BIAŁKA

Emanolla

The show season in Poland is to be considered begun. For many years the Junior Show in Białka has been the forerunner of the approaching season. Białka is the first opportunity for breeders to get together and compete, to draw conclusions and verify whether the raised horses will join the „top trendy” group. This is where young horses have their début and the first stars, which we then see on the red carpet in Paris for instance, are born. The greatest winners of this year’s show are the Michałów Stud and the Suweco Stud. The owner, Nina Suskevicova, will certainly remember the show. In the 11 classes held horses from Michałów won 7 victories, while Janów and Białka only one each. Two class wins went to horses from private studs. The Sunday championships brought more triumph for Michałów horses, as well as an astonishing turn of events.

The Ground Jury, composed of Marc Veray from France, Christine Jamar-Demeersseman from Belgium, Gideon Reisel from Holland and Tomasz Tarczyński from Poland judged 112 horses. Scores above 90.00 points were awarded to as many as 50 horses. The highest awarded score was 94.17 points, which was given to a state stud mare.

A podium divided!

Traditionally yearling colts were the first to go. They competed in two classes, 10 and 12 contestants respectively. The Michałów colts gave no chance to any others. In class 1A the leader was a son of the epoch-making Ekstern, Edmund out of Editha by Eden C. The judges gave him 92.33 points and the silver medal in the finals. The runner up in the class and second runner up in the finals (bronze medal) was the lovely chestnut colt Piękny Pan (Glorius Apal - Parilla/Enzo) bred and owned by SO Białka, who scored 91.17 points. The future champion of yearling colts was seen in class 1B. This was another Michałów-raised colt, Emandenor (Emerald J - Emandilla/Om El Shahmaan). His fantastic movement could not but be reflected in the judges’ scores (2 x „20” and 19.5). These were the first “twenties” of the day. Emandenor’s total score was 92.33 points, the same as Edmund’s. High scores for movement were also given to their stable mate Woronin (Vitorio TO - Wilda/Gazal Al Shaqab). In this category the judges gave him one „20” and 2 x 19.5, which added up to a total score of 92.00 points and the second place in the class. In the finals the colt won the title of „Top Five”.

Emandenor

In the 2 year old stallions class Michałów’s Equator made its mark as a sire. Both in class 2A as well as in 2B his sons were in the first places. The privately bred stallion Equalion out of Evolett by Ajman Moniscione bred and owned by Katarzyna Dolińska -Witkowska of "Zalia Arabians” came first with a score of 91.33 points, to be closely followed by another privately bred stallion with the same score, the chestnut Calatorio (Vitorio TO - Calatea/Ekstern) bred and owned by Marek Kondrasiuk. However, Calatorio scored less for type. The same number of points was probably the reason for the error during the class prize giving ceremony. Equalion was decorated as the second in the class and Calatorio as the first. Unfortunately the error was rectified outside the arena. Decorations of horses are exceptional moments for the breeders so such errors they should be avoided at all costs. Nonetheless they do occur, as we remember, even at the most important shows.

Equalion

Another of Equator’s offspring, this time Michałów’s Dastan, out of Dama Pik by Enzo, won in class 2B of 2 year old stallions. He won the same scores for type and movement (2 x 19.5 and 19) which added up to a fairly good result of 92.50 points. The second in the class, also with a good result (92.17) was the golden chestnut El Shaad (FA El Shawan - El Estrada/Justify) bred and owned by Józef Pietrzak. In the finals El Shaad was the successful one and won the gold medal with a flourish. Those were wonderful moments for his breeders as well as trainers, Paweł Kozikowski and Joanna Wojtecka. Dastan had to make do with the bronze medal. In between these two the silver medal was snatched by Janów’s Paris (Kahil Al Shaqab - Palmeta/Ecaho), who came first in his class of 3 year old stallions (91.83 points). He left another „Kahil” behind, namely Petrarca  (Kahil Al Shaqab - Poezja/Enzo) bred and owned by PPH Parys sp.z.o.o. (91.50 points) and Białka’s Milian (Lawrence El Gazal - Mila/Ararat) (91.17 points).

The ascending star of the international arena?

The competition between mares, young and certainly the older ones, is always a highly emotional event. Participation in the yearling fillies class was very high, with a total of 37 contestants divided into three groups. In group A Markiza of Justice presented by Paweł Kozikowski (WH Justice - Markiza of Marwan/Marwan Al Shaqab) made a great impression and was the pride of her owners and breeders (Małgorzata and Józef Pietrzak), winning the class with a score of 91.33 points. She was closely followed by another privately bred mare, the bay Eta Carinae (Medalion - Edicion Corta/Esparto) bred by Lilia Markowska-Ataman and owned by Dawid Borowiec. The mare hypnotized the audience with her beautiful head and huge eye. She even seduced the judges who gave her two „20-ties” each for head and neck and type! This added up to a total score of 91.17 points. In the finals however, neither of the mares succeeded in reaching the highest laurels and had to be satisfied with “only” „Top Five”.

Persia Touch SW

Class B was the scene of an interesting rivalry. Two strong contestants came into the forefront, Michałów’s Emdrona (Medalion - Elgora/Poganin) and the mare Persia Touch SW (EKS Alihandro - Princess Touch W/Yllan El Jamaal) from the Suweco Stud - Nina Suskevicova. The judges gave higher scores to Michałów’s mare awarding her 92.67 points, which guaranteed the first place in the class. The exquisite Persia came second with a score of 92.17 points. She received very high scores for type (3 x 19.5) and head and neck (one „20” and 2x19.5). Anything could happen in the finals, and in fact it did! Expertly led by Paweł Kozikowski Persia went all the way to the gold! Great was the joy of her breeder, owner and trainers. Emdrona won the silver medal for Michałów, and her stable mate Ebira (Empire - Ebra/Alert) won the bronze and medal first place in class 4C.

Michałów continues on a winning streak

Mares from the next classes also presented a high level. Participation was good both in the 2 year old as well as 3 year old mares classes. In the 2 year old mares class the highest score once again went to a Michałów-raised mare, Emanolla, the daughter of Vitorio TO and Emandoria. The high marks for type and movement (one „20” in each category and 2x19.5) contributed to the impressive total of 94.00 points. The second place in the class went to another daughter of Vitorio TO, this time Janów’s Praga out of Perla by Ganges, with a score of 92.17 points.

Emanolla

However, Michałów’s Poganinka (El Omari - Pentra/Poganin) completely stole the show, first in class B of 2 year old mares and then in the finals. The mare’s excellent movement was highly appreciated by the judges who showered Poganinka with „twenties” giving her maximum scores in this category. She won two more „20-ties” for type. The consequences were obvious, the total score of 94.17 points granted to Poganinka was the highest score of the show! And well deserved it was. The runner up in the class was the daughter of Pogrom and Pianissima, the lovely Pamina, to whom the judges gave two „20-ties” for head and neck and 19.5, which translated into a good result of 93.83 points. The results of the finals confirmed the expectations of most spectators. The gold medal was awarded to Poganinka, the silver to Emanolla, and the bronze to princess Pamina.

Poganinka

Mares from the 3 year old class, Białka’s Celita (Lawrence El Gazal - Cella/Ekstern) and Janów’s Bambina  (Kahil Al Shaqab - Bellisa/Poganin) could not beat the medal winners and they left Białka with the titles of „Top Five”. Celita won high scores for type (one „20” and 2 x 19,5), and a total of 93.17 points. Bambina on the other hand had high scores for movement and type (one „20” and 2 x 19.5) and for head and neck (3x19,5). The final score of Janów’s mare was 92.67 pkt. However, Michałów’s winning streak continued and the most important title, „Best in Show”, went to Poganinka!

The number of titles won in the classes and in the finals indicates the supremacy of Michałów’s horses over all the others. Ahead of us is the entire show season in Poland, of which Białka was a front piece.  Will the leader’s baton remain in Michałów’s hands? Is it likely to be taken over by horses from private studs? Białka revealed the ascending stars, it is now time for them to defend their position on the national and international arena.
